Here is a video we have all grown up watching. It gives a complete essensce of what India is and the beauty of each part of India. Some of the people look so young but it is a video from very long time back. A video worth every 6 minutes of its run time.
and here are a few ads I used to love:
My first watch was a Titan watch which my parents bought for me when I was in Ooty. It was the time when Titan had just come out and the watch had a very interesting shape. It had an octogonal face. I lost this watch when I was in 12-th Std on my way back from school. It had just slipped off my hand - I had been extremely upset. I then had a Seiko for a few years. My next watch was a Titan watch gifted to me by my husband. The rhombus shaped watch is still here with me after 15 years - my father always used to show us his HMT watch when we were very small children telling us how long he had used it. Later, when I was leaving India, my team had gifted me my next Titan watch which I use quite often today.
This ad gives me the goose pimples - I loved the music then and still love it. I am glad I could find it on the net.
Lisa Ray used to come on the pages of Illustrated Weekly and Readers Digest draped in beautiful flowing sarees. Later, when TV started entering households, Garden Sarees and Lisa Ray was accompanied by music. She later disappeared and then appeared years later - looking still the same in a Bollywood movie which would have gone unnoticed had it not been for her. She hardly wore any sarees in that movie. Perhaps that is one reason I could appreciate her more in Water. Some images stick.
and then "Yehi Hai Right Choice Baby" which launched "THE" face to many Indians before she went on to win Miss India and Miss World.
I must say.... there is nothing to beat Indian commercials. Years later, the two acted together in a Coke ad...
and one that shows the ever optimism that things are changing:
In a way this ad represents the feeling that that seems to be prevalent in the Indian society that we cannot depend on the politicians and the policemen to remove our problems but we must take action ourselves in order to move forward.
and this one is really hilarious:
